About Dr. Barbara
Barbara is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and is a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. She completed a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology (School and Community Psychology) through the University of Calgary following completion of Bachelor’s and Masters’ degrees in Psychology at The University of New Brunswick.
Barbara’s training and experience has included clients ranging in age from preschool to adulthood, with much of her 25 years of experience being with school-aged children and their families. Barbara also has worked as a Clinical Supervisor at the University of Calgary with graduate students completing practicum placements in psycho-educational assessment and has been a Sessional Instructor working with educators learning to incorporate evidence-based interventions (academic, socio-emotional, and behavioural) into their teaching practices.
In her own professional practice, Barbara provides assessment, consultation, and counselling/therapy services for a broad range of issues including attention-related difficulties/ADHD, learning disabilities, stress and anxiety-related issues, depression, developmental issues, autism spectrum disorder, giftedness, intellectual disabilities, behavioural challenges, family issues/conflict, and self-regulation/emotion regulation issues. Her therapeutic interventions include cognitive-behavioural, mindfulness, strength-based, and solution-focused approaches.
By collaborating with clients and/or their families, and considering their unique combination of strengths, supports, and needs, the most beneficial approach for their situation can be established and implemented.
